Noticeboard

National Highways plan to carry out drainage work on the A120 Marks Tey. Once complete, the road will be able to disperse surface water better and will be less prone to flooding.

They plan to complete this work over two nights between Monday 4 August and Wednesday 6 August. We will work between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.

What to expect
  • Temporary three-way traffic lights will be in place at the T-junction where Mott’s Lane joins the A120 during the works.
  • Noisy activity is expected due to the nature of the drainage repairs.
  • Liaised with the local bus company, and the bus stop will be temporarily relocated during the works.

A map of the three-way traffic control and temporary bus stop is shown below.

UPDATE: Important roadworks information

A120 Marks Farm Roundabout to Marks Tey Roundabout – safety improvements

National Highways are making good progress on the work to reduce the speed limit on the A120 between Marks Farm (Braintree) and Marks Tey. This next phase of the scheme involves installing the new 50mph speed limit.

They are planning to start the next phase of work on Monday 16 June. They will be working between 9pm and 6am on weeknights only, and will do their best to minimise disruption.

 Closures and diversions

Throughout the work dates, they will be implementing a combination of road closures and temporary traffic lights to minimise the impact to journeys. Please visit their website for the latest closure dates.

To work safely, they will need to close the A120 between Marks Farm and Marks Tey, and divert traffic as detailed below:

 Eastbound diversion

Traffic wanting to travel eastbound on the A120 will need to exit onto the A131 (Panners Roundabout / Great Notley Roundabout) and travel to junction 19 of the A12. Continue on the A12 to junction 25 where road users will be able to continue their journey or access local road networks at Marks Tey.

Westbound diversion

Traffic wanting to travel westbound on the A120 will need to continue on A12 until junction 19, join the A131 and rejoin the A120 at Great Notley Roundabout.

All laybys along the closure route will be inaccessible while we work.

A map of the road diversion can be found below.

In July, they will return to the works area to complete any remaining speed reduction tasks. They will provide further updates as the date approaches

* Please note that dates are subject to change, sometimes at short notice. Recommend visiting National Highways dedicated webpage regularly for the most up-to-date information.
