Noticeboard

Braintree District Council needs to allocate sufficient land to provide 18,959 new homes over the next 15 years. This figure has been calculated in accordance with the government’s standard method. Around 9,327 of these will be built on sites which were allocated previously within the existing Local Plan.

The draft plan focuses housing and employment development in the most sustainable locations or where development of a strategic scale can be achieved to provide high levels of sustainability. This includes allocating land on the edges of main towns at Braintree, Halstead and Witham and at Key Service Villages such as Kelvedon, Hatfield Peverel and Coggeshall where there is the ability to access major roads like the A12 and the A120. The plan also includes policies which sets out design criteria as well as ones to protect and support the conservation of the district’s landscape and historic environment, which are key to providing a sense of place.

BDC have commissioned a feasibility study to explore what a Digital Demand-Responsive Transport (D-DRT) service could look like in your area. The feasibility study report would form the basis for any potential future bids or funding opportunities to establish such a service.

A Digital DRT service is a form of shared public transport. It offers flexible, on-demand travel, allowing passengers to book journeys through an app or phone line and be picked up and dropped off at one of many virtual stops within an operational boundary.

Your feedback on your current transport experiences and how a new D-DRT service could meet your travel needs will directly inform the study. Complete the survey here: http://www.tiny.cc/DRTSurvey

By participating, you can enter to win a £100 Amazon voucher. The survey closes on Wednesday 26 November 2025.

Important Note: This survey does not include establishing the service. It would be subject to future funding/bids. This study is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. #UKSPF
